About Captain Jon Gore

Sharing a Lifelong Passion with Others

Captain Jon Gore grew up experiencing the outdoors with his dad through fishing, backpacking, and camping. Originally from Georgia, Jon started fishing for largemouth bass and panfish from a young age, which is something he enjoys doing to this day. Later on, he began traveling through competitive rock climbing. He realized there was a good opportunity to fly fish in a lot of the same places he was climbing. Jon started traveling out west to fish, as well as fishing in the Low Country area more and more until he stepped away from climbing competitively to focus solely on his fly fishing pursuits. Through these experiences, Jon started to meet other people in the fishing industry, and he decided to pursue a career as a fishing guide to share his passion with other people. Jon now splits his time between guiding for trout in Montana and guiding for redfish in the Low Country of South Carolina. Jon enjoys teaching others of all experience levels from beginner to advanced. While fishing is the primary focus, everyday on the water is an exciting experience to learn something new! While he primarily focuses on chasing fish with a fly rod, light tackle with artificials is an option as well. Whether you are looking to catch your first fish or your thousandth, Jon will do everything in his power to give you a great day on the water!
